Workforce and Vocational Exploration (W.A.V.E.) Program

May 15, 2021 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

The ALCOSAN W.A.V.E. program is offered to middle and high school students. It focuses on workforce and vocational exploration and increases the student’s interest in wastewater careers. Students who join the program meet with an ALCOSAN Scholastic Outreach representative in a group setting once a week after school in their school building. The ALCOSAN W.A.V.E. program is a wonderful opportunity for students to focus on short and long-term goals.

Students enrolled in the ALCOSAN W.A.V.E. program participate in career development activities and engaging hands-on activities that incorporate role-play and real-life scenarios to practice effective job skills. Some of these skills are: goal setting, interviewing, effective speaking and listening, giving and receiving constructive feedback, financial literacy, professional work attitudes and habits, communication and teamwork, and resume and cover letter writing. ALCOSAN’s W.A.V.E. also exposes students to careers in the skilled trades and STEM fields. A field trip to ALCOSAN is provided once per month for hands-on job shadowing experience.
