Workforce And Vocational Exploration (W.A.V.E.) Program

W.A.V.E. is a free afterschool program for middle and high school students. Students who join the program meet with an ALCOSAN Scholastic Outreach representative in a group setting once a week after school in their school building. The ALCOSAN W.A.V.E. program is a wonderful opportunity for students to focus on short and long-term goals and figure out how to work to achieve them, acquire essential job skills, and discover and explore their career interests.

Students enrolled in the W.A.V.E. program participate in career development activities and engaging, hands on activities that incorporate role-play and real life scenarios to practice effective job skills. Some of these skills are goal setting, interviewing, effective speaking and listening, giving and receiving constructive feedback, financial literacy, professional work attitudes and habits, communication and teamwork, and resume and cover letter writing.  W.A.V.E. also exposes students to careers in the skilled trades and STEM fields. A field trip to ALCOSAN is provided once per month for hands on job shadowing experience.
