More than 75 employees from ALCOSAN volunteered on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, for a community cleanup across Pittsburgh.

Crews collected litter and debris from Preble Avenue, the Chartiers Creek area, and the Heritage Trail in the South Side.
During the cleanup, ALCOSAN crews collected 108 commercial-sized trash bags of garbage. The most unusual item recovered this year? Fittingly, a toilet!

Volunteers also removed metal wire, outdoor metal furniture, wood debris, a sofa, a large truck tire, two televisions, a garage door opener, and assorted car parts.
This annual volunteer events reflects ALCOSAN’s commitment to environmental stewardship and to keeping neighborhoods, waterways, and public spaces cleaner and healthier for the communities we serve.
