Shatara Murphy serves as assistant vice chancellor of Anchor Initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh, where she works with university and community stakeholders to advance Pitt’s role as an anchor institution in the region. She supports the University’s Buy, Build, Hire Local program and leads initiatives focused on housing affordability, workforce development, and the Walk to Work program. She also serves as president of the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Black MBA Association.

Previously, Shatara served as community health and employee engagement programs manager at Highmark Health, where she led community health and employee engagement initiatives across 10 regions in four states. She also served as deputy director of the Division of Community Affairs within the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Public Safety, where she worked to strengthen connections between public safety efforts and the communities they serve.
