John K. Weinstein

John K. Weinstein is the elected treasurer of Allegheny County. A lifelong county resident, he has been treasurer since 1999 and has been re-elected to six consecutive terms. Weinstein also serves as the President of the Retirement Board of Allegheny County and oversees the pension investment portfolio of nearly $800 million. Furthermore, he oversees the collection, investment, and disbursement of over $1 billion dollars of county funds.

Among other notable achievements, Weinstein was awarded the Investment Policy Certificate of Excellence by the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. This is the seventh time that the Treasurer’s Investment Policy has won this prestigious honor.  The county’s Investment Policy is distinguished and recognized as a comprehensive and well-developed investment policy that exemplifies a solid fiduciary standard.

In addition, Weinstein has become a leader in green initiatives by implementing eBILL and ePAY for county real estate property taxes.  He also established ePAY for alcohol and rental vehicle taxes and ePAY for dog licenses in Allegheny County. Treasurer Weinstein is committed to helping transform Allegheny County into a truly “green” government.

He was appointed to the ALCOSAN Board in 2012 and served two terms as president. He is active in numerous professional organizations and serves as a member of multiple boards and foundations.
