Extra Credit Opportunities

Frankie’s Puzzle Fun (Extra Credit Preschool-Elementary)
Help Frankie piece together ALCOSAN’s Wastewater Treatment Process by assembling a jigsaw puzzle.  Additional fun includes matching parts of the treatment process to its description, and taking Frankie through the ALCOSAN wastewater treatment maze.  

The STEM Runoff Challenge (Extra Credit Middle-High School)
Students will complete Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) stations to solve the issue of stormwater runoff in a given area and scenario.

Mad Scientist (Extra Credit Middle-High School)
ALCOSAN’s “Buggy Science”
Are microscopic agents really at work in the treatment of sewage? ALCOSAN’s own Mad Scientists will guide you through experiments using activated sludge and microscopes to find out:

• What microorganisms are commonly found in sewage?
• What’s significant about the settling of solids in sewage treatment?

Learn the answers to these questions and more while exploring the microbiology of ALCOSAN’s secondary treatment process.
