ALCOSAN announces leadership in Communications, Governmental Affairs

May 21, 2018 – As ALCOSAN continues its work keeping the region’s rivers and streams clean for generations to come, the authority today announced two leadership changes in an effort to better serve its municipal customers and the community at large.

Joey Vallarian, who has been ALCOSAN’s public information officer since November 2017, has been named director of communications. Jeanne Clark, who led the authority’s communications division since its creation in August of 2014, will lead the new Governmental Affairs Division.

"This realignment is very important for ALCOSAN as the work surrounding our Clean Water Plan is being implemented," said ALCOSAN Executive Director Arletta Scott Williams. "Being responsive to all of our stakeholders is a key component to the success of the plan and is a long-standing part of ALCOSAN’s mission."

The Communications Division will now be made up of the Communications and Scholastic Outreach and Education departments, while the newly created Governmental Affairs Division will include the Municipal Relations department. Both divisions will be tasked with taking the ALCOSAN story to their respective audiences.

Clark joined ALCOSAN in 2014, with a record of leadership in communications and public affairs throughout Pennsylvania as well as Washington, DC, New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Baltimore and Mississippi. She worked with Vice President Joseph Biden to write and pass the landmark Violence Against Women Act in the U.S. Senate, and with U.S. Senator Rick Santorum to gain funding for treating Pennsylvania’s massive acid mine drainage problem . She was the founding communications director for Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future (PennFuture), where she designed the media campaign to pass Growing Greener II.

Vallarian, who has 25 years of media and public relations experience, joined ALCOSAN in November 2017 as the public information officer. He has spent nearly 10 years in the utility industry, and has also done communications work in the non-profit and education fields.
