It is ALCOSAN's MBE/WBE/DBE goal to award 10 to 25% of contract dollars to minority, women or disabled business enterprises. ALCOSAN makes every effort to meet this goal in its contracts, and to encourage this same goal be pursued among contractor's subcontracts.
In order to be considered by ALCOSAN as a MBE/WBE/DBE, your business can be certified by any county or state certifying agent or by any regional council of the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
In order to qualify for bidding on a specific contract, usually those involving complex equipment or installation work, potential bidders must attend the pre-bid meeting. Bidder qualification generally goes beyond the pre-bid meeting, depending on the contract in question, sometimes involving bench scale tests, laboratory testing or product sampling.
ALCOSAN's purchasing group is just like other purchasing groups in many companies. We procure equipment and supplies necessary to run a wastewater treatment plant. Vendors have the opportunity to sell ALCOSAN whatever products are required to operate the plant on a continuous basis. ALCOSAN's purchasing group makes every effort to treat all vendors on an equal basis, procuring equipment and supplies, per the guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Municipal Authority Act.
